” If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and He will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if He does not, we want you to know, Oh King, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:17-18
Not many of us have faced such a choice. And not many of us will have to. We know the end of the Daniel story. Four men in the furnace instead of three and a fire that did not consume them. Papa God tells us not to be surprised by our ‘fiery trials’ or consider them ‘something strange’ as they make us ‘partners with Christ in His suffering’1 Peter 4:12-13 “How do we balance the fact that God loves to answer our prayers with the fact that we know as followers of Christ we will face suffering?” Kristen Schmucker in ” Seek. A 21 day devotional on prayer and fasting”
Looking back over my history with God and the suffering that is embedded into that story with all the other emotions that present themselves daily, I know that God has always answered my cry for help. He has been with me in my furnace and the fire has not consumed me.
